About

Work experience

System Analyst

Wimark Systems

2024-2025

I was working on Wireless LAN Controller development project. My main focus was
on writing Software Requirements Specification (SRS) for various features of WLC
product. That includes such tasks as: identifying requirements, elicitation,
decomposition, analysis, development, prioritizing and validation the SRS with other
teams and stakeholders.

Senior Wireless Systems Engineer

CTI LLC

2017 - 2023

My main focus was on WLAN network design, implementation and troubleshooting.
I have designed and launched Wi-Fi networks from scratch for different tasks: from
large amount of small offices to a large chemical production plant, stadium highdensity WLAN, or Hyperlocation.
Stages of projects I participate:
• Presale
Collecting customer requirements and expectations. Discussing the profits and
limitations of a solution. Presentations and demonstrations of a solution with
demonstration of equipment. Then I usually make a comparison of solutions for
different vendors in technical details, test results and price estimates.
• Design
Designing Wi-Fi networks from scratch, creating HLD and LLD for future network.
Performing wireless site surveys-on-a stick and predictive site surveys with Ekahau
Survey Pro and Sidekick OR Airmagnet Survey Pro OR Tamograph Site Survey.
Different approaches are used for different environment, but usually proper surveying
is a must.
• Installation
I don’t crimp RJ-48 and don’t drill walls. But I check mounter’s job and pointing them
to the best places to install access points and which angle shall be used to adjust it. I
also supervise noting of MAC address, angles, positions on the plan and port numbers
use it in future for monitoring and location.
• Configuration
My experience is mostly in Cisco AireOS WLC’s, like 5508, 5520, 3504 in different
combinations. I also do configuration for adjacent components: MSE, CMX, Cisco
Prime Infrastructure, SSM On-Prem, Anyconnect supplicants, ISE rules and captive
portals, access switches of LAN infrastructure.
I also have experience in Aruba solution, version 6.xx and 8.xx, including Mobility
Masters, Mobility controllers, Airwave, or small installations with Aruba Instant.
• Post-installation
This stage includes connection, coverage and roaming check for key types of devices, also location services tuning and high availability tests. Usually after this
step customer’s devices are allowed to join and I provide support for the customer if
something goes wrong.
Documentation
I wrote HLD and LLD documents for the projects and also sets of manuals for
step-by-step DR or typical maintenance tasks, like software upgrade or new APs
SSC certificates provisioning.
• Troubleshooting
I handled any kinds of tasks which lead to problem solving. This includes broad
range of testing, documentation research and communication with adjacent
departments and vendor support. Very often tasks included log and debug analyzing,
packet capture, traffic analyzing, ACL checking, coverage and interference check,
describing and reproducing problems for TAC engineers, roaming check and
optimizing AP placement, sometimes just driver/firmware updates and time
corrections. I always searched for a root cause of the problem, and it was always very
satisfying to find it.
I have participated in Cisco Connect Moscow 2019 as a speaker. I have tested
severity of several WiFi interference sources and Cisco CleanAir reaction on it. I
have presented the results on Cisco Connect Moscow 2019 event on behalf of my
employer.
I wrote technical marketing articles and article parts in collaboration with other
departments for company Habr blog and public events.
Since I have relocated from Russia, I was performing fully remote tasks, which
included specification building, equipment capabilities analyzing and comparing,
troubleshooting and support for internal and customers LAN/WLAN infrastructure,
article writing and remote lab tests.
